Part of your world - The Little Mermaid Acoustic Cover by Gadonna

After a long night of drinking and recording music me and my long term friend and drinking companion Donna managed to pull this out of the hat. Not bad considering I couldn't stand up.

If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, criticisms or requests please direct them to our Facebook page as I'm not always on this blog to respond.

Facebook and Nyan Cat Censorship

I have eagerly awaited the return of the Nyan Cat - and was very happy today ro realise that the nyan cat had indeed returned.

For those of you who know not what I talk of here is the nyan cat in it's full glory.

http://www.nyancat.me.uk/

I have had to setup this proxy server to circumvent facebook restrictions that attempt to stop the non stop nyan cat from nyaning. To further explain myself - please try and type into faeebook nyan.cat - you will be prevented from doing so.

The nyan cat is a legitimate form of art. I have written to facebook and have yet to receive a response. As a temporary measure - please use my nyan proxy to post on your facebook wall.

Or dont - I dont really care.

Animaniacs - Nations Of The World

Pinky and the Brain The Tailor and The Mice

The Ferengi rules of Acquisition

  • Once you have their money ... never give it back.
  • Never pay more for an acquisition than you have to.
  • Never allow family to stand in the way of opportunity.
  • A man is only worth the sum of his possessions.
  • Keep your ears open.
  • Small print leads to large risk.
  • Opportunity plus instinct equals profit.
  • Greed is eternal.
  • Anything worth doing is worth doing for money.
  • A deal is a deal ... until a better one comes along.
  • A contract is a contract is a contract (but only between Ferengi).
  • A Ferengi without profit is no Ferengi at all.
  • Satisfaction is not guaranteed.
  • Never place friendship above profit.
  • A wise man can hear profit in the wind.
  • Nothing is more important than your health--except for your money.
  • There's nothing more dangerous than an honest businessman.
  • Never make fun of a Ferengi's mother ... insult something he cares about instead.
  • It never hurts to suck up to the boss.
  • Peace is good for business.
  • War is good for business.
  • She can touch your lobes but never your latinum.
  • Profit is its own reward.
  • Never confuse wisdom with luck.
  • Expand, or die.
  • Don't trust a man wearing a better suit than your own.
  • The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife.
  • Never ask when you can take.
  • Good customers are as rare as latinum -- treasure them.
  • There is no substitute for success.
  • Free advice is seldom cheap.
  • Keep your lies consistent.
  • The riskier the road, the greater the profit.
  • Win or lose, there's always Hyperian beetle snuff.
  • Home is where the heart is ... but the stars are made of latinum.
  • Every once in a while, declare peace. It confuses the hell out of your enemies.
  • Beware of the Vulcan greed for knowledge.
  • The flimsier the product, the higher the price.
  • Never let the competition know what you're thinking.
  • Ask not what your profits can do for you, but what you can do for your profits.
  • Females and finances don't mix.
  • Enough ... is never enough.
  • Trust is the biggest liability of all.
  • Nature decays, but latinum lasts forever.
  • Sleep can interfere with profit. (DS9 season 2, episode 7 - "Rules of Acquisition")
  • Faith moves mountains ... of inventory.
  • There is no honour in poverty.
  • Dignity and an empty sack is worth the sack.
  • Treat people in your debt like family ... exploit them.
  • Never have sex with the boss's sister.
  • Always have sex with the boss.
  • You can't free a fish from water.
  • Everything is for sale, even friendship.
  • Even a blind man can recognize the glow of latinum.
  • Wives serve, brothers inherit.
  • Only fools pay retail.
  • There's nothing wrong with charity ... as long as it winds up in your pocket.
  • Even in the worst of times someone turns a profit.
  • Know your enemies ... but do business with them always.
  • Not even dishonesty can tarnish the shine of profit.
  • Let others keep their reputation. You keep their money.
  • Never cheat a Klingon ... unless you're sure you can get away with it.
  • It's always good business to know about new customers before they walk in the door.
  • The justification for profit is profit.
  • New customers are like razortoothed grubworms. They can be succulent, but sometimes they can bite back.
  • Employees are rungs on the ladder of success. Don't hesitate to step on them.
  • Never begin a negotiation on an empty stomach.
  • Always know what you're buying.
  • Beware the man who doesn't make time for oo-mox.
  • Latinum lasts longer than lust.
  • You can't buy fate.
  • Never be afraid to mislabel a product.
  • More is good ... all is better.
  • A wife is a luxury ... a smart accountant is a necessity.
  • A wealthy man can afford anything except a conscience.
  • Never allow doubt to tarnish your love of latinum.
  • When in doubt, lie.
  • Deep down everyone's a Ferengi.
  • No good deed ever goes unpunished.

    Twitter, Sickipedia and the Police

A young British student has lost his appeal against his 56 day prison sentence for racist tweets following the footballer Fabrice Muamba's collapse and cardiac arrest on the pitch during a recent match.

I don't know exactly what he said. However, a quick look on the website sickipedia shows the largest collection of racist jokes devoted to Fabrice Muamba I can find on the net.

The site is owned by a British company called B3ta and boasts on it's own site that it's traffic is 80% UK based. However, the police appear to have made no effort to combat the abuse and racism that occurs on this site. Without any form of consistency of policing - it strikes me as very unfair that a student should be jailed for his inappropriate comments which he took down the next day.

Meanwhile the bankers who caused the financial crisis have largely gone unpunished and in many circumstances have been rewarded for their behaviour.

It reminds me of a poem:

The law locks up the man or woman
Who steals the goose from off the common
But leaves the greater villain loose
Who steals the common from off the goose.

Noel Edmonds and the facebook Troll

I read today that Noel Edmonds has agreed to pay for a PHD students studies after hiring an agency to discover the identity of the person who set up a facebook page stating Noel Edmonds has to die. Facebook had refused his request to remove the group stating that they could only remove a page if they had a formal request from the police. Rather than lodge a formal complaint with the police and potentially destroy a young mans life he decided to meet with the poster and after he removed the group agreed to fund his studies.

Thats very nice of Noel but I have the feeling that it may have the opposite effect to which he desired. It seems to me that anyone who is looking to fund their university studies what with the recent increases in tuition fees may decide to set up a Facebook group stating much the same? I'm going to give it a few days and see how many new anti-Noel Edmonds pages pop up over the next few days.

    Hilary Clinton Quotes

All of us have to recognize that we owe our children more than we have been giving them.

As I speak to you today, government censors somewhere are working furiously to erase my words from the records of history. But history itself has already condemned these tactics.

Both the American people and nations that censor the internet should understand that our government is committed to helping promote internet freedom.

Countries that will not tax their elite who expect us to come in and help them serve their people are just not going to get the kind of help from us that historically they may have.

Every nation has to either be with us, or against us. Those who harbor terrorists, or who finance them, are going to pay a price.

Every president, if you watch what they look like when they come into office, you can see their hair turn white because it's such a hard job.

For centuries, New York has served as the gateway for millions of people from all over the world in search of the American dream. It only makes sense that it would now serve as a gateway for the world's greatest athletes.

I also believe that we have an extraordinary opportunity for the United States and European Union to lead the world in developing and implementing new and more efficient technologies - smart electrical grids and electrical vehicles.

I believe in a zone of privacy.

I feel very lucky because of my parents and then my education, the opportunities that I've had, so I would like to continue working to improve lives for others.

I think I will serve as secretary of state as my last public position.

I think that we have to be constantly asking ourselves, 'How do we calculate the risk?' And sometimes we don't calculate it correctly; we either overstate it or understate it.

I will not comment on or confirm what are alleged to be stolen State Department cables. But I can say that the United States deeply regrets the disclosure of any information that was intended to be confidential, including private discussions between counterparts or our diplomats' personal assessments and observations.

I'm not going to have some reporters pawing through our papers. We are the president.

I'm undaunted in my quest to amuse myself by constantly changing my hair.

If I want to knock a story off the front page, I just change my hairstyle.

In almost every profession - whether it's law or journalism, finance or medicine or academia or running a small business - people rely on confidential communications to do their jobs. We count on the space of trust that confidentiality provides. When someone breaches that trust, we are all worse off for it.

In the aftermath of September 11, and as the 9/11 Commission report so aptly demonstrates, it is clear that our intelligence system is not working the way that it should.

In the Bible it says they asked Jesus how many times you should forgive, and he said 70 times 7. Well, I want you all to know that I'm keeping a chart.

In too many instances, the march to globalization has also meant the marginalization of women and girls. And that must change.

Let's not leave an educational vacuum to be filled by religious extremists who go to families who have no other option and offer meals, housing and some form of education. If we are going to combat extremism then we must educate those very same children.

Many of you are well enough off that the tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.

No matter what you think about the Iraq war, there is one thing we can all agree on for the next days - we have to salute the courage and bravery of those who are risking their lives to vote and those brave Iraqi and American soldiers fighting to protect their right to vote.

Often times when you face such an overwhelming challenge as global climate change, it can be somewhat daunting - it's kind of like trying to lose weight, which I know something about.

One day after laying a wreath at the tomb of Martin Luther King Jr., President Bush appoints a federal judge who has built his career around dismantling Dr. King's legacy.

Probably my worst quality is that I get very passionate about what I think is right.

The American people are tired of liars and people who pretend to be something they're not.

The American taxpayer should not be treated more shabbily than debtors from other nations and we should be encouraging other nations to help rebuild Iraq's economy.

The candidates we have in this campaign are... the most accomplished, in terms of public service, that we've had since 1960. One of them will be successful.

The challenge is to practice politics as the art of making what appears to be impossible, possible.

The challenges of change are always hard. It is important that we begin to unpack those challenges that confront this nation and realize that we each have a role that requires us to change and become more responsible for shaping our own future.

The United States strongly condemns the illegal disclosure of classified information. It puts people's lives in danger, threatens our national security, and undermines our efforts to work with other countries to solve shared problems.

There are 4 billion cell phones in use today. Many of them are in the hands of market vendors, rickshaw drivers, and others who've historically lacked access to education and opportunity. Information networks have become a great leveler, and we should use them together to help lift people out of poverty and give them a freedom from want.

There is a great deal of political pressure to only talk about abstinence, and to deny support for condoms and education on using them. This policy will lead to the unnecessary deaths of many people.

Today we voted as Democrats and Republicans. Tomorrow we begin again as New Yorkers.

Voting is the most precious right of every citizen, and we have a moral obligation to ensure the integrity of our voting process.

We don't have enough support for maternal leave and the kinds of things that some of the European countries do. So we still make it hard on women to go into the work force and feel that they can be good at work but then doing the most important job, which is raising your children in a responsible and positive way.

We have a close, unshakable bond between the United States and Israel, and between the American and Israeli people. We share common values and a commitment to a democratic future for the world, and we are both committed to a two-state solution. But that doesn't mean that we're going to agree.

We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society.

We would very much like to see Iran take a position as a responsible leader that doesn't intimidate or threaten or scare its neighbors and others. But the choice is really up to Iran and we're going to keep working to try to come out with the right decision.

We'll hold out our hand; they have to unclench their fist.

What we have to do... is to find a way to celebrate our diversity and debate our differences without fracturing our communities.

You cannot have maternal health without reproductive health. And reproductive health includes contraception and family planning and access to legal, safe abortion.

You show people what you're willing to fight for when you fight your friends.
